Flu Shot and Travel Plans

PLEASE Get Your Flu Shot if you haven’t yet. I got the flu and horrid-dizzifying fever for 3 days so far. My ticket for Eastern Europe is booked for Monday. If I can still travel,  I will be in Bulgaria studying vocal techniques and shooting images of gorgeous village ladies for myself and for Getty images. Then off to Berlin for meetings and Sony Classical as well and at various Galleries. If any of you have thoughts or personal contacts in the Berlin Art World, please let me know.

Archive Magazine

While at the Mag store, peek at the current Archive Magazine. As convinced by my awesome new agents at Friend and Johnson, I have an Ad and it’s a great looking spread right towards the beginning. The other work in the Mag is cool- some quite edgy work for commercial-Ad-land.

Black Sea Hotel’s First Radio Show

In the meantime, in case you missed it (Ha!– of course you missed in, unless you were tuned into XM Radio on Halloween Night), here is a link to download our Live Radio show from Halloween on XM (http://www.xmradio.com/). Bill Kates was our host and he was so much fun to sing with and talk to.

Hope you enjoy: http://www.sarahsmall.com/guest/BlackSeaHotel_XMRadioShow.zip

Current Issue of Surface Magazine

While at the Mag store (I love that I think you are all actually going to the store), check out the current Issue of Surface Magazine. It is the issue I told you about a few months back where they chose 8 photographers out of 10-years of the Avant Guardian Competition (which I participated in in 2005) to do shoots for their 10-year Anniversary. We collaborated on a rather edgy concept for the story and it turned out so beautifully. I am thrilled. I worked with a fantastic crew which yielded 12 pages with multiple spreads and the Preface ImageNude Seniors surrounded by fashion models in a shapely futuristic venue. Sandy, my female model and I decided to nnominate each other as Grandmother/Granddaughter during the shoot. She saw the issue last week and is thrilled too… loves the pictures and says she is inspired and more filled with energy then she’s been in a while- she’s out and about auditioning for plays and modeling for shoots all over the place. She’s lovely. I love her! This makes me so happy.

Here are the Other 7 Avant Guardian Winners:
Amanda Friedman (1999 AVG)David Byun (2005 AVG) Jing Quek (2007 AVG)Erik Swain (2005 AVG)David Vitale (2003 AVG)Jody Fausett (2000 AVG)Jean Nichols (2000 AVG)

This Issue’s Launch Party is this coming Thursday and will be held at the Surface Penthouse on Rivington (NYC). The Event is intimate/smallish in comparison to the Avant Guardian Parties generally held at studios sized like Splashlight. So, that being said, my invite list is limited.

I can only collect RSVP’s for 10 people and am almost at capacity. I WILL be able to RSVP approx the first 4 people who respond (others can still attend but will not be on the list and may have to wait in a line or something)

Details: 11th Annual AVG IssueThursday, November 68-11pm Cocktails & Hors d’oeuvresThe Surface Penthouse at the Hotel on Rivington 107 Rivington Street, New York

1 of the 13 Top Talents of the year by American Photo Magazine

I am excited to say I was selected as 1 of the 13 top Talents of the year by American Photo Magazine. Pretty neat I thought and I like the company of the other 12 photographers. (sorry to say… the launch party for this issue was during the Photo Expo weekend. I almost missed it myself- last minute attendance- so sorry for not sending the party info)
