Slideluck Potshow III

Here I am being last minute again. If anyone else is also looking for something last minute to do tonight, I am going to this thing called Slideluck (like potluck, but slideluck instead). There will be music and fifty photographers showing slides for 5 minutes a piece and a bunch of food potluck style. I will be one of the photographers. This is all I know.

Here is the info below.

A quick reminder that Slideluck Potshow III is to be held in Chelsea at MATCH artspace this Saturday night, February 26th. Please bring good food and drink, and prepare yourself for a fantastic slideshow. We have had an overwhelming response and you can surely expect lots of thrills and chills.

Yasna Voices Performing Tomorrow Evening

This is an announcement to let you all know about a Yasna Voices Performance taking place tomorrow evening. In case you have forgotten, Yasna Voices is the Bulgarian Women’s Choir that I sing with. There is a lot of traditional Bulgarian material on the program: herding calls, field work songs etc… (this is some strange stuff, dissonant and sort of jarring/new to hear at first). Then other pieces will be really soft and rich with harmony and very beautiful. So, basically a mixed set for the evening.

WHAT: Yasna Voices, NYC’s only Bulgarian Women’s Choir, will be adding its own a cappella set to the eclectic evening of sounds ranging from Sufi chants to Bulgarian dance grooves. Mawwal’s fresh and inspired arrangements of Middle-Eastern songs will be preceded and accompanied by the vibrant harmonic tones of Yasna Voices. For this evening, Yasna will enliven  traditional Bulgarian music and present similar harmonies found in Indian, Georgian and the Hebridean music. It’s a night not to be missed.

WHEN: Tuesday, February 22, 2005 7:30pm
WHERE: Satalla – The Temple of World Music
37 West 26th Street (bet. Broadway & 6th Ave)
Admission: $12
Subways: R, W (23rd & Broadway); F, V (23rd & 6th)

Lastly,
We just received a new grant from the Brooklyn Arts Council and are planning our first tour to Europe in August! ..sooo come catch us in the making of it all!

And… stay tuned for the release of Mawwal’s new album, where our vocals are featured on 8 tracks.
