“Women’s Work Woven in Songs” Performence by Yasna Voices

Yasna Voices will be performing a collection of Women’s Work Songs from around the globe Today at 4pm at the Brooklyn Public Library. This show is the culmination of our year long research on Women’s Work Songs from around the world. These songs span from Bulgaria to Poland, Japan to Scotland, Argentina, Croatia, Georgia, India to Scandinavia, and the United States. This Event is free and will be chock full of energy!

Yasna Voices Performing in Brooklyn

I hope that some of you can make it to our concert in Brooklyn – all the details are below. The venue isn’t ideal, but the concert should be fun.

Yasna Voices, New York City’s only Bulgarian Women’s Choir, journeys around the globe to feature songs about marriage, child-rearing, physical labor, and rituals performed by women. Vocal traditions from Bulgaria, Poland, Japan, Scotland, Argentina, Croatia, Georgia, India, Scandinavia, and the United States, will be heard.

WHO/WHAT: Yasna Voices have delighted audiences with close-knit Bulgarian harmonies since 2002. They were featured at the Golden Festival for Balkan music, and have performed at BAM Café, Symphony Space, and BRIC Studio. Stay tuned for their live radio debut on Saturday, Oct. 16th on WFMU, 7:30pm.
